Fireworks are legal in Oregon while California Burns

So, I guess it has been a little while since I have put an update on here so I guess I shall get to it. I am trying to remember all that has happened from the last time I put a post up and now... Ok, i just looked at my blog and it hasn't been all that long. Well I had my first 4th of July in Oregon and it was pretty fun. I went in to go work the night shift and when I got there my manager told me that we weren't even going to open the Patio that day (which I was scheduled to work) so I ended up just going home and joining the Colossae 4th festivities! Fireworks are legal here, well at least the ones that don't fly in the air (i don't know what else you could fly in, but figured I would clarify in case there was another matter in which you could fly). Below are a few pictures of the 4th.
Well i guess some of this pictures sort of need a little bit of explanation... Well first of all we have our Pastor Chuck Bomar taking advantage of the 200 lb weight limit on this kids toy, classic! But we did have a few minor adult injuries on this little red beast, luckily I am not included on that list. Secondly we have a picture of one of our legal fireworks being set off in the street with much of our church watching in the background. Finally, how could I turn down the challenge to jump over fireworks?!?! I mean come on. The funny part is I think I challenged someone else and since they didn't do it, I stepped up to the plate. Though out of college, independent and almost 24 years old, I still got a bit of kid in me =).

I guess there are a few things we need to cover. First of all, God is continuously revealing His provision for me. I found my new house that I am going to be moving into on August 1st and that worked out really well. I just signed the lease today, craziness I am all grown up these days. (disregard the comment of me being a kid still merely a few lines above because now I am going to give you the sense of my responsibility and adultedness) So I am really excited to get into this new place and really start feeling like I am living on my own and starting my new life. Here is where I throw in my random Portland plug.

3 Bedroom, 2.5 Bathroom, 2 Car Garage house with a yard $1250/month

Moving to Portland: PRICELESS! (except for all the moving expenses)

Next matter of business is work: I am still working at CPK and still learning to become a more proficient server. One of my managers just set it up so that I can work 3 days a week at the CPK which is actually closer to where I live and more established. This was great news and encouraged me a lot since I haven't been doing financially as well as I was hoping to. Well just yesterday I found out that the General Manager of my home store wasn't too thrilled to here that I was working at the other store. I found out that the management staff actually hold me in high esteem and that he wants me to be at the store full-time to ensure that we get good reviews. This was encouragement for me in itself and then they asked me if I would become a trainer and start training for that promotion. For me this came as quite a shock, for the mere reason that I have only been serving for a month in my ENTIRE LIFE. I am still not sure what that would look like yet and if it would hurt me more financially or if it would benefit me. But none the less, still a blessing.

Life up here is good and I am learning to handle free time without people to hang out with, which is good. Don't get me wrong, I haven't been up here for 3 months and not built any friendships, but I just don't have people to hang out with every day of the week ya know? Church has still been really good, we are just about to move into a study on Colossians which as you might take from the name of our church, will be a powerful series! I am excited to see where Chuck takes us in this discussion and I am excited also for where God continues to lead the worship ministry. Not a whole lot else going on right now, we still need prayer to find a new place to meet for church since the house is getting too small. I am definitely excited to have my Sister, Bro-n-law and Nephew up here next week and I am looking forward to an August trip to SD! I miss and love everyone!
