College is over NOW WHAT?!?!

Well I graduated from Cal Poly, SLO and now it is off to what so many call "Real Life" or "The Real World". So to preface graduation a little, I began really thinking about where I am supposed to go with this life during the spring quarter of 2007. At the time I was playing in a little musical experiment called Interstate Divide. This was quite a fun time for me, being able to explore some different musical styles and just start really writing my own music. Well, as I got deeper into playing concerts and starting to actually get a little bit of a name base, I was thinking that maybe I would spend a little time after I graduated pursuing music, though one thing I wanted to make sure of is that I was doing what would most glorify God. So I began to pray that God would lead me where he wants me to be and that if this band wasn't in plans then have him make it clear to me. Well guess what?!!? He did. Both the bass player and guitarist left and though i could have looked for replacements, that was enough of a sign for me. So I decided to figure out what this life should look like, since my last idea had past.

So after meeting some with my buddy Pastor James Johnson Hill, all I really knew is that worship was my passion, i had an engineering degree and limitless opportunity. So what we talked about was, why not instead of finding a job and place to live, then finding a church or opportunity to serve in afterwards, why not find a church or ministry to serve in first, then let God provide the job....as crazy as this can sound, that is what i chose. So i continued to pray, and God began to lay it on my heart to think about moving out of state. Well then God opened a few opportunities, one in Seattle and one in Portland. These are both huge music cities so i was stoked at that. I now graduated and had a decision to make, Where should i go?

*PORTLAND, OREGON*

That's right, i am bound for a little city just outside of Portland named Tigard. I am moving up there the 1st of April to help start a Cornerstone church plant with Chuck Bomar. So there are the preliminary plans, I am moving up there with no set job, a few thousand bucks, a lot of music equipment, and a lot of prayer that God will move powerfully in Portland!

The main purpose of this blog is going to be to update everyone on what God is doing in my life and somewhat of a true life story of what it looks like to plant a church. This is going to be exciting and soon i will share more about what God is doing to prepare me for the move.
